>> Plug a sales leak...

Here at PDCash we are always striving to pay YOU more. We want to hear about any potential sales leaks you are concerned about, so we can plug them for you. We want to be as close to 100% leak free as possible so you get commission for every sale. For example, most other sites offer alternative payment methods for their customers such as mailing in a payment check or money order. Even if they don't disclose this information directly on their site. Others actually turn over to another payment processor when Clickbank can't accept the transaction - which means you don't get paid at all for the sale you sent! We don't agree with this practise which is why we DO NOT take mailed payments and will not cascade our payment processors. If we can't pay you what you deserve, we don't take the payment. If you find ANY leaks you think we should plug, please submit a support ticket into the affiliates department and we'll take a look at it.

Affiliate Marketing Basics

There are many reasons why people go into affiliate marketing. Some are looking for a better work-life balance in their lives. Others see it as a way to get out of the rat race. Still, other view it as the road to a comfortable or even a luxurious life. Whatever your reasons are, there is one thing that all aspiring affiliate marketers want - and that is to be come successful and profitable affiliate marketers.

We’ve all heard success stories, especially from people who style themselves as “gurus”. What is not often talked about is the persistence and the trials that these successful affiliate marketers have gone through, and are going through, in order to reach the pinnacle of success. And what is often overlooked is the fact that for every successful affiliate marketer, there are 99 others who fail.
What sets apart winners from those who didn’t quite make it? Two things -  knowhow and stubborn persistence.

In this section of our training, we will cover the basics of affiliate marketing within the Clickbank framework, and we will touch on various marketing techniques. These techniques work, but in order for them to work, you have to keep faith and plow ahead. The start of any endeavor is often the most difficult because results may be slow to come by. But this does not mean what you’re doing is not working. It simply means you have not reached the critical mass or the tipping point.

If you are going into affiliate marketing expecting instant results, then you could be heading for disappointment. Affiliate marketing rewards persistence and commitment. Anyone can teach you the strategies and the techniques to make a sale, but your attitude is something you need to develop in yourself.
And with that out of the way, let’s now go into the reason why you are here - and that is to learn all there is to know about affiliate marketing. Let’s plow ahead.

What is affiliate marketing?

The best way to describe what affiliate marketing is is to compare it to a similar relationship in the brick and mortar world. An affiliate marketer is basically like a sales agent that earns through commissions from successful sales. The analogy is close to perfect, with a few exceptions.

The first one is fairly obvious. In affiliate marketing, the transaction happens in the online world. Customers buy online and sales are tracked online. Your marketing efforts will focus on internet marketing activities to drive the sales for your client.

The second difference is not as obvious, but is much more crucial for us to understand. And that is, unlike the sales agent who have to close the sale themselves in order to earn a commission, an affiliate marketing is NOT required to sell. The selling is done by the merchant. The job of the affiliate marketer is get prospects to the merchant’s sales page, and let the merchant do the actual selling.

Just because you are not expected to sell, doesn’t mean you are free from the task of promoting the product. Not at all. Your task is to pre-sell the product. And this means conditioning your prospects so that they will be in a “buying” frame of mind once you send them to the merchant’s site.

How much money do you stand to make?

When it comes to affiliate marketing, there’s no cap to the amount that you could be earning. The internet is open to the world 24 hours a day, every day of the year. You experience no downtime. If you choose to promote eBooks or information products just like the ones that we have, then you don’t have to worry about any inventory or shipping and handling costs either.

Affiliate programs like ours are managed by Clickbank. Clickbank is one of the largest retailers of digital information products. There are many advantages to promoting Clickbank products and one of these is the fact that merchants can give you as much as 75% for every sale you refer. This is the maximum rate of commission given by any merchant in Clickbank.

If you do the math, you can easily see how by selling just a few products a day, you can comfortably earn 4 to 6 figure income monthly. There is no cap to how much you can earn, especially if you choose to promote products that are “evergreen” or those that people will always need or always be interested in.

How do the sales get tracked?

That’s the other nice thing about promoting products that are in Clickbank. When you sign up for an affiliate account to promote any product on Clickbank, you will be give a unique Clickbank ID and a product specific hoplink. This hoplink is what tracks your traffic and your sales.

Signing up for your Clickbank ID is absolutely free. With just one account, you will be able to promote several products - keep track of your stats, from traffic to sales, and even monitor the results of your various marketing campaigns.
Here’s exactly what you need to do. First you need to open a Clickbank affiliate account. Then, decide which product or products you want to promote. For example, if you choose to promote Prejaculation, our product on overcoming premature ejaculation, you have to get your affiliate hoplink from Clickbank for this product. To get your hoplink for all the PDCash products, click here for the full list.

More about the Hoplink

The hoplink is the tracking code that Clickbank uses to track the sales that you send over to the merchant. It is unique to every affiliate and every product. This hoplink is a URL that you use to link from your articles or your site to the sales page of the product you are promoting. This is the what Clickbank uses to track your sales, which is why it is very important that you remember to use your hoplink every time you want to link to our sales page.

When your hoplink is clicked on by a user, what happens is a cookie is placed inside the user’s computer. This cookie stays there for 60 days. What this means is that if the user purchases the product within 60 days, then you will receive credit for the sale.

The hoplink can be personalized even further if you wish to track the results of your various marketing campaigns. Imagine you have used the hoplinks in several places. You’ve used it in a review, in an email campaign, or in a banner on your site. As a marketer, you will want to know which of these marketing activities are pulling in the sales for you. WIth Clickbank, you can add tracking IDs to your hoplink so you know exactly where your sales are coming from.
You can let Clickbank create your hoplink with the tracking ID built in. All you have to do is specify what tracking ID you want to attach to it. Tracking IDs can be up to 24 characters long, and has to make use of lowercase letters and numbers only. No symbols or spaces. You can let Clickbank create it for your by clicking on the same link you used to generate the hoplink in the first place, and this time, fill in the field that asks for a tracking ID. If you want to do it manually, just add ?tid=yourtrackingID to the last part of your hoplink URL. Here’s an example:

http://example.hop.clickbank.net/?tid=yourtracking ID

You can have as many tracking IDs as you need. And inside Clickbank, you will be able to access data that will show you how many sales came from each of your tracking IDs.

Hoplinks are very important to understand and to use when you decide to become an affiliate marketer. And this is why every time you use one, you should test it to make sure it is working. How do you test it? Click on the hoplink. It should direct you to the merchant’s sales page. And then click to purchase a product from the merchant’s page. Checking out should lead you to a Clickbank payment request page. At the bottom of this page, you should see your affiliate ID spelled out like this:

[affiliate = your affiliate ID]

If you don’t see one, it means your need to go back and check your hoplink for any errors.

Another thing you want to learn when using hoplinks is knowing how to cloak your hoplink. Cloaking your hoplink means using a set of anchor text to carry your links.

If you have seen what a hoplink looks like, then you know that it is a long string of letters and numbers that don’t mean anything. If you see it in a website, you wouldn’t want to click on it because you don’t know where it will take you just from looking at the URL. By cloaking it, you are making it more attractive for people to click through.

You can use different types of anchor text when cloaking your link. You can use keywords, you can use the standard URL of a site, or you can even use key phrases. If you were promoting GuyGetsGirl, here are some anchor text examples including the html code to create the text links:

  1. Listen up guys! My girl Tiffany dishes out <a href=”http://your hoplink here”>how you can get a girl</a>. The secret is out. Enjoy! (anchor text: how you can get a girl)

  2. Be sure to check out Tiffany’s <a href=”http://your hopelink here”>GuyGetsGirl</a>. (anchor text: GuyGetsGirl)

Product Promotion and Pre-selling

Now that you know the basics of what you need to set up, it’s time to promote your products. There are many types of internet marketing tools that you can use to drive traffic and sales to your merchant’s site. You can create a website, write a review, publish articles, send emails, use Facebook, etc. These techniques will be discussed in the other modules of this affiliate training section.

What I want to talk to you about is the idea of pre-selling. I’ve mentioned this earlier and in this section I want to talk to you about it in more detail. Pre-selling is one of the most important things you can do to increase your chances of converting a sale because it makes the user open, and even wanting, the idea of buying or trying out a product.

To understand the difference between pre-selling and giving a sales pitch, here’s an analogy. Imagine you have a male friend who’s always been unlucky with the ladies. Ever since you knew him, he had zero confidence around women. He would rather eat dirt than to approach and strike a conversation with a beautiful woman he doesn’t know.

Flash forward years later, you find out from common friends about the transformation of our main character. He goes from being shy and timid, and is now known as a notorious ladies man. Wouldn’t you want to find out what had helped him overcome his chronic shyness? If you would like to be as comfortable as he is around women, then I’m guessing you’ll be very interested in the things he did and the techniques he uses to get women.

Imagine, you and your friend come together over a few beers, and he tells you exactly how he made the change. He’s not selling you anything. But he tells you about his experiences his women, the websites (like BlackBelt Seduction) with great tips that he uses and so on. If you want to be as successful as him, wouldn’t you want to take his lead and do the same things he did?

That right there illustrates the idea behind pre-selling. With pre-selling, your goal is to be helpful. You want to help your readers find a solution to their problem by showing them what’s out there and your own experience or the experience of people you know with those products. You want to make genuine recommendations, and when you do, people will be curious to try the products or services that you recommend.

And this is the reason why when you build a campaign, it also helps to establish your presence on the internet (often done through a website), and establish your credibility to speak on the subject matter. There are different types of approaches to this and your authority doesn’t necessarily have to rest on a Ph.D. Be creative and keep this in mind when you are designing your various campaigns.

Now that you know the basics of getting started and becoming an affiliate marketer, it’s time to start learning about the various marketing tools that you can use in our other modules:
